REMIX paperbacks and trailer

There's been a delay, as Lightning Source lost my revised files (how could they do that?) but today the first paperbacks of Remix were delivered, and they do look nice. I shall be sending out the pre-orders this afternoon.

I'm pleased to see that Aphrohead Books has discounted the cover price of £9.99 to £4.91 + p&p of £2.75 if you get to them through Amazon - this is why I'm giving bookshops the full 55% discount, which few self-publishers do. It's a competitive market out there.

The Kindle version is selling well - as I write it's at #1 in Contemporary Romance. See widget in sidebar for overall ranking. Woohoo!

  5. Kitty, your book too is in the post :o)

The hunk is a Danish actor, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who is unaware of his starring role in my trailer. I hope he wouldn't mind.

  6. Hello Lexi,

Good to see you're doing well!

Just thought I'd check in regarding our recent agreement. How is your first draft of the new novel going?

Afer rewriting the outline of my one several times I'm finally getting words down. Currently on 20,000 and doing 5,000 a week. Should be finished sometime around Christmas.

  7. Hi Richie!

I've just started writing again after a break; self-publishing takes up quite a bit of time. I'm behind you with 16,500 words, and I'm aiming for a more modest 500 words a day.

None yesterday, but I did spend the evening going round the Barbican and environs for research purposes, to see where Beth could spend a freezing night without her pursuers finding her.

Don't know when I'll be finished. Glad yours is moving confidently ahead :o)

  9. You're doing well, Lexi. Good for you! I like the sales widget thing. How many times a day do you check it??

With the e-book version of Remix, what cut does Amazon take?

  10. Too often is the simple answer :o)

Remix is £0.86 including VAT; my royalty is 35%. If I charged between £1.49 and £6.99, I'd get 70% royalty. But I believe people are more prepared to take a chance on a writer they have never heard of if the price is under a pound.

I may try a higher price at some stage.

  11. Lexi,

Congrats. Shame on me, I am jealous as can be. But you've certainly put in the work, writing and writing and finding something that not only you loved to write but others obviously love to read. Well done and I hope the success keeps building.

Is the paperback available in the US yet?

  12. Thanks, Norm and Alan.

It's a little nerve-racking; I've just had my best sales day, which followed my worst this month. It would be fascinating to know who is buying the ebooks, and where they came across Remix.

The paperback is available in US bookshops and most other countries through Ingrams distribution, and of course Amazon.

  13. Whatever you're doing (or not doing!) keep it up. Wish I could point to the link on my blog as the sales driver for you, but I doubt that's the case. I did notice that when I click on the link that is part of your signature at KUF that it directs me to the Amazon US site. Is it that smart that it knows I'm a Yank?

#47 at this moment on Amazon UK. Fantastic!

Amazon US says it's not available yet, but I imagine it won't be long.

  14. If I knew what I was/wasn't doing I'd carry on doing/not doing it!

KUF is a canny website. I really like it. It's programmed so you get connected to the appropriate country's Amazon - plus if you then buy, KUF gets a tiny percentage to help pay for the site.

  16. Once I've removed it, Alan, everyone will think you've imagined it :o)
